I have before but not often. My computer does finally run Source fairly well on Not Super Tiny maps but oooh boy does it like to lag at random in online multiplayer. that and I can’t always have 20 gigs for tf2

HOWEVER I was super into the game/characters even before playing it thanks to gmod machinimas

For me, TF2 is great fun, but I never play it myself unless someone in a group chat is going through the hard work of making fun of a particular character.

Which reminds me, there is a funny joke in the TF2 comics involving a bunch of other people who are too nice to get along with people they have to do serious work with at work so they have to put on this exaggeratedly “screwed up” persona to be unpleasant, which they all think makes them cool and not boring. (This comes up when they’re all on a team that’s been hired to do stuff that sounds extremely boring, like “go around and take pictures of the stars in a specific part of the sky” – they just want to have fun, and so they come up with various schemes to make it seem like they’re having fun even when it really is a very boring process. Their friendliness is very touching – people who are used to being taken advantage of and resent their friends for not resenting their jobs – and the entire comic is a great little essay about social niceties and professionalism and work ethic.)

But I do this in real life, so I’m constantly trying to get people to laugh at me in the way they do in the comics:

[Description] cartoon of a man thinking about work, and then his boss coming in with his wife. Caption: ` [Text]I can't believe I haven't had a [newline] wonderful day in my life until now [newline] And you haven't been fired yet? [newline] I should call in sick.

yeah, this tracks, that’s always how i’ve written it when i’ve done tf2 fic tbqh

tf2 fic where there’s no lore and every character has their names printed in the comic book style (like, the little speech bubbles) and it’s just about these really friendly office workers being like “what a wonderful day in my life, and you haven’t been fired yet? :/”

then the boss finds out and fires them and they’re all really sad because they just wanted to have fun

that’s when they unionize. i mean they’ve got guns and flamethrowers, time for the bosses to realize that the workers own the means of destruction

Oh man, unionizing would be a lot more fun than the bosses realizing the workers own the means of destruction – in fact, the latter is the reason I’m not writing TF2 fic as we speak
